In basketball, the rules are fairly straightforward. But some rules can be hard to understand, especially because of how fast paced the game is. Below will list out the variety of rules/fouls and explain them thoroughly.
Personal fouls: Any type of physical contact between players of different teams.
Illegal screen- Standing in the way, intending to block your teammates defender, and give them space to drive or shoot. It becomes illegal when you move your feet while you screen
Block- When a defender not establishing position in time, and tries to stop the opposite team from scoring by swatting at the ball.
Charge- An offensive or defensive foul committed when a player runs into/pushes the player on the opposite team.
Double dribbling- Dribbling with both hands on the ball at a time.
Traveling- when you take more than two steps after you already picked up your dribble.
Carrying- When a player dribbles under the ball carrying it high in the air, or over their head.
Backcourt violation- Passing the halfcourt line while on offence means you cannot bring the ball back over the halfcourt line until the opposing team gets possession of the ball, or touches it.
Those are the main rules that are the most commonly called in games.
